UAE Ambassador in Germany stresses growing relations between the two countries

Berlin - June 9, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Ambassador to Germany Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmoud stressed the depth of relations between the UAE and Germany in various fields.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the participation of the Emirates Airlines in the Berlin International Air Show, the ambassador said that the relations between the two countries are constantly growing.
He noted that the trade exchange between the two countries amounted to 5.8 billion Euros in 2008 and slightly dropped in 2009 to 5.6 billion Euros due to global economic crisis.
The announcement by the Emirates Airlines to buy an additional 32 Airbus A380 aircrafts underscores the great success achieved by the airline and the UAE and Dubai will become influential players in the global aviation industry within the next few years, stressed the ambassador.
He added that the economic and trade relations are playing a pivotal role in the special ties between the UAE and Germany. The recent visit of German Chancellor to the UAE and the meeting with President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well the signing of a number of bilateral agreements clearly demonstrate the interest of both countries to enhance relations, said the ambassador.
The UAE is seeking to take advantage of the German experience in many areas, particularly the small and medium industries and is working to encourage German companies to cooperate with their counterparts in the UAE and take advantage of the facilities, big investment opportunities and enormous potential of the UAE, he added. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
