FNC, Chinese National People's Congress eye stronger relations
Abu Dhabi, June 15, 2010 (WAM)- First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) Ahmed Shabeeb Al-Dhaheri and Mdm. Li Lingbing Political Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Abu Dhabi have discussed ways to promote parliamentary, investment and tourism relations between the UAE and China.
The meeting also highlighted positions on matters such as the Iranian occupation of the UAE Islands Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb.
In the meeting at FNC's head office, Al-Dhaheri gave an overview of the UAE's efforts to restore sovereignty on the three islands through peaceful means and the International Court of Justice. "The issue with the Islamic Republic of Iran is not over yet and we demand a quick solution to it because a settlement is needed to safeguard regional stability," said Al-Dhaheri.
For her part, Lingbing expressed the desire of the head of China's National People's Congress to hold discussions with FNC members as part of efforts to promote relations. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
