Mohammed bin Rashid reviews UAE performance at Global Competitiveness Report

Dubai, June 15, 2010 (WAM)- Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has praised UAE standing internationally in the global Competitiveness Report.
UAE's performance in the nine parameters remained out standing and it ranked high on the world map in various fields.
Lt. General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Chairman of Emirates Competitiveness Council were also present.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the progress made by the UAE internationally, providing an incentive for more efforts and hard work to achieve greater accomplishments in the coming years.
He was also given a presentation by Abdullah Lootah, Secretary General of Emirates Competitiveness Council, and Hessa Madani from the work team of the secretariat of the Council. The presentation included an explanation of the nine reports and the international standards adopted by the UAE to enter the global competitiveness, which is based on the citizen and the UAE Vision 2021, which focuses on the mobilisation of human resources of citizenship, improving health services and education, building a national economy based on solid knowledge, creativity and well-being of the citizen and the highest living standards, quality of life and finally achieve a regulatory and legislative environment compliant with global requirements and standards.
He stressed on the importance of studying and following up global competitiveness reports to measure the UAE success and book an advanced site for it within the best world countries by the year 2021, demanding to join federal and local efforts and activate coordination between them especially to provide data and accurate statistics linked to sectors related to competitiveness conferences.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum called on public and local institutions to improve their performance, set development plans and activate initiatives that will lead us to achieve the ultimate objective, considering that the concentration of the Secretariat of the Emirates Competitiveness Council on building communication bridges and strengthening strategic relations with related international foundations, such as, World Bank and Global Economic Forum help in building national abilities and disseminating and consolidating the concept of awareness and the importance of competitiveness for the UAE.
He highly appreciated efforts of employees of the Emirates Competitiveness Council during the meeting that was held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, and was also attended by Ohoud Al Roumi, Director General of Prime Minister's Office. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
