UAE, US discuss bilateral cooperation
Abu Dhabi, June 21, 2010 (WAM) - Ambassador Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, director of the operations, director of the executive office for goods and materials under importing and exporting control, received in his office at the Foreign Ministry, Alan Makovsky, Senior Professional Staff Member at U.S. Congress, House Foreign Affairs Committee.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America, as well as the efforts made by the UAE to control the exports and how to take legal action on them.
Al Shamsi said that the UAE-US relations are strategic and there is constant cooperation between the two countries to serve their common interests, adding that the Executive Office of the Special Exports was founded in April 2009 and the team was formed to hold meetings on a regular basis as part of the exchange of information, which had positive results.
He added that the office enjoys wide support from senior leadership in the UAE, stressing that the office is one of the most successful experiences. He added that there is a plan to send specialists to the United States to benefit from the experiences there.
For his part, the US official said his country considers the United Arab Emirates as a strategic partner, praising the role played by the executive office for goods and materials under the importing and exporting control in the country.
