GCAA signs MOU with LACAC on developing Cooperation between the two Organisations

Abu Dhabi, June 23, 2010 (WAM)- The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority ("GCAA") and the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission ("LACAC"), signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") for sharing experiences and to develop meaningful cooperation to promote the safe, efficient and sustainable development of civil aviation in Latin America and the UAE.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, and Jose Huepe Perez, President of LACAC, signed the MOU yesterday on the sidelines of Search '&' Rescue Forum held in Abu Dhabi from June 21st and 22nd, 2010.
Pursuant to the MOU, the LACAC and GCAA will cooperate in all areas of international civil aviation including regulations and legislation, training, cooperation in ICAO meetings and other international events and meetings, in addition to consultation and coordination in various aviation fields.
"The MoU, is in line with GCAA' strategic objective to strengthen international cooperation in civil aviation with various regional organisations, under the umbrella of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)". Said Saif Mohamed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA.
"The UAE provided specialised scientific, technical and administrative training programs for LACAC and AFCAC member-states in order to keep them abreast of all developments witnessed by the ever-changing civil aviation industry". Added Al Suwaidi.
The GCAA has already activated the MoU starting from this month, as it organised a 3-day training course about the role of strategic planning in the civil aviation industry in Asuncion, capital of Paraguay held between 8-10 June 2010, with the participation of 50 specialised people representing 11 member states in the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission.
Laila Bin Hareb, Head of Strategic Planning and Corporate Excellence, GCAA, was the speaker at the main lectures in the course, which comes within the framework of implementing the MoU signed yesterday between GCAA and LACAC for sharing experiences.
The UAE GCAA stands as a unique example in the civil aviation industry at both regional and international levels. Due to its persistent efforts in training specialised human resources and strict compliance with the standards of international civil aviation organisations, the GCAA has attained a high and advanced position in this field. Several authorities and organisations wish to benefit from the UAE GCAA expertise and capabilities in training human resources and its high-end training programs, which all aim at one target: to elevate the overall position of civil aviation industry. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
