Abdullah bin Zayed meets Albanian Deputy Premier

Tirana - June 27, 2010 (WAM) - Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Adullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks here Friday night with Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta. Meta welcomed Sheikh Abdullah and his accompanying delegation and expressed the hope that his visit will further contribute in enhancing ties of cooperation between the two friendly countries.
They discussed bilateral cooperation and the opportunities for establishing a partnership in the different fields. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest, as well as the current regional and international developments.
In a joint press conference held after the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah said he discussed with the Albanian Deputy Prime Minister bilateral relations and reviewed with him developments in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Somalia, and the Iranian nuclear dossier following the Security Council's resolution 1929 which imposes sanctions on Iran.
Sheikh Abdullah praised the efforts made by the Albanian government in support of the development projects and in and promoting investments in Albania.
Meta lauded the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE's policies and stances towards regional and international issues.
"We attach great importance and top priority to our relations with the UAE and we see plenty of areas for cooperation," he added. He pointed out that Albania was seeking to benefit from UAE experiment in economic development and diversification of sources of revenues.
"The two countries share identical views about issues of mutual interest such as cooperation in economic, commercial, investment, tourism, educational, agricultural and renewable energy domains." He also said that the upcoming opening of Albanian embassy in the UAE will further bolster ties.
Sheikh Abdullah also met with Albanian Parliamentary Speaker Josefina Topalli who said she was impressed with the progress she saw during her visit to the UAE in 2008.
The meetings were attended by Abdul Hadi Abdul Wahid Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Greece '&' non-resident Ambassador to Albania, and Mohammed Saif Hilal Al Shihi, Director of European Affairs at the Foreign Ministry. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
