Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital treats Moroccan children

Rabat - July 4, 2010 (WAM)- Twenty Moroccan children have received surgical treatment by volunteer doctors affiliated with the Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital at the city of Missour. The surgeries are part of a UAE-Moroccan joint program to treat elderly people with chronic diseases and children with congenital deformities. The UAE mobile hospital was launched under directives by H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA).
The mobile hospital in Missour is equipped with the state-of-the-art medical equipment and is set to provide free medical treatment, preventive and training and awareness programs for the local population, according to UAE Ambassador to Morocco Saeed Hamad Al-Jari Al-Ketbi.
Medical teams will be sent by the hospital to different remote areas to provide treatment and medical aid to, he added.
The 35-strong team comprises emergency doctors, general surgeons, paediatricians, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, ICU doctors, technicians from the UAE, Morocco and other countries, according to leader of the hospital team Khdeim Al-Dere'.
"The strategy for the mobile hospital will go over years to come where hundreds of volunteer world-class medical doctors will visit targeted courtiers around the world," he added.
The mobile hospital in Missour has the capacity of 25 beds and includes specialized surgical units, an ICU, a minimal care unit, a pharmacy, an x-ray unit as well as maintenance unit and a medical supplies unit.
Dr. Alal Al-Amrawi, representative of the Moroccan Minister of Health expressed gratitude to the top leadership and people of the UAE for the generous support to the people of Morocco. He further hailed the UAE-Moroccan deep-rooted relations which were established by the two late leaders, King Al-Hassan II and Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.
He said President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.M Mohammed VI continue to follow the steps of the two late leaders," he added. "The mobile hospital is the most recent addition to the UAE's humanitarian efforts which already have featured the Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rabat and the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Casablanca," the Moroccan official added. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
