UN honours the Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai

July 4, 2010 (WAM)- Representative of United Nations in Afghanistan Kay Edy said the UAE has been so far responding professionally to the emergency situations.
This came in a gratitude message addressed by Edy to Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, director of the of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai and staff for their sustained cooperation with the UN officials. He thanked all the officials at the directorate for providing facilitations to the UN officials during their arrival at the Dubai International Airport. Edy urged the UN officials to visit the directorate to thank the staff for helping entry of the UN officials into the country.
Addressing a ceremony held to honour the Dubai residency, Mousa Aliyan, representing the Security and Safety Department at UN, thanked the UAE and the directorate in his speech on helping the UN staff at the airports.
On her part, Bridget Mountain, director of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), also hailed the role of the directorate for its cooperation.
Al Marri said the services rendered by the directorate "are part of the directorate's functions and dominant culture of the UAE in line with the directives of the UAE leadership".
The UN delegation presented the appreciation certificates to Brig. Al Marri, Brig. Obaid Mohair bin Surur, deputy director of the directorate, Col. Salah bin Saloom, director general of the Air, Sea and Land Ports, directors and employees who supervised the entry of UN staff into the country. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
