Ministry of Interior discusses legislative amendment mechanisms to protect child

Abu Dhabi July 26, 2010 (WAM)- The legislative requirement development committee of the higher committee for child protection at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has recently held a meeting at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police to study and discuss legislative amendments regarding the objectives and vision of the higher committee for child protection.
The meeting was chaired by Adviser Mohammed Ahmed Al Hammadi, of the Ministry of Justice and chairman of the committee and Major Faisal Mohammed Al Shamri, of the MOI, member and rapporteur of the committee. Present were the committee members.
Al Shamri said the amendments discussed by the committee included incrimination of child porn possession and any materials that promote child sexual exploitation and abuse, adding that setting up a record for those involved in the sexual abuse crimes was also tackled.
Earlier the higher committee resolved in its first introductory workshop held recently the importance of tightening grip on those who commit immoral or organised crimes and to ensure that stringent provisions were enacted to punish possession of child pornography materials. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
