Sheikha Fatima donates Dh10 million for campaign to treat one million poor children
Abu Dhabi, Sept 6, 2010 (WAM)- H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union of UAE and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) has donated Dh10 million for an international humanitarian campaign announced last May by the UAE to treat one million children in the UAE and around the world.
Sheikha Fatima's donation was announced Saturday in a charity ceremony held under her patronage at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi to raise donations for the "Giving" Campaign which was announced last May by H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) at the Arab Giving Forum and the third Abu Dhabi Social Responsibility Conference.
Other donations totalling Dh5 million were made by Sheikha Salama Bint Hamdan Bint Mohammed Al-Nahyan, Wife of H.H General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces (Dh 1 million), Sheikha Shamsa Bint Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al-Nahyan, Wife of H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (Dh1 million) and sons of H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed (Dh900000 each).
In remarks at the ceremony, H.H Sheikha Fatima stressed that "the UAE will always be at the forefront of countries to extend a helping hand to needy patients, alleviate their suffering and provide them with dignified living conditions regardless of race, colour or religion and in line with directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA).
"Today we reap the fruits of the efforts and humanitarian initiatives by the late Sheikh Zayed planted. We follow his steps," she added.
Sheikha Fatima also stressed that no efforts will be spared to make the campaign a success and demonstrate real social solidarity.
Present at the ceremony were Sheikha Shamsa Bint Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al-Nahyan, Maryam Al-Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, Dr Maitha Al-Shamsi, Minister of State, female ambassadors, wives of ambassadors, businesswomen and women leaders.
