DEWA using the latest technology in the field of energy transmission to support development

Dubai, Sept 28, 2010 (WAM)- Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) continues to progress ahead with its development projects through the completion and launch of new Substations and extending new power cables in various areas of Dubai, and in this context, DEWA is currently working on the extension of new underground cables of 400 kV, between Al Nahda and Al Mamzar at a total cost up to 450 million dirhams.
This operation is using for the first time advanced technologies for extending high voltage cables of 400 kV through underground tunnels.
DEWA's efforts come in the framework of upgrading its capabilities to meet the growing demand for its services while continuing a steady pace in the implementation of vital projects, especially the infrastructure and in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai aiming to consolidate Dubai's position as a leader in the region and strengthen its role as a global economic and financial pole.
On this occasion, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer MD '&' CEO of DEWA, said: "DEWA seeks to increase the productivity and operational efficiency, which would contribute in strengthening the sustainable development, while adopting the best use of globally modern techniques as well as maximising safety '&' environmental compliance." "DEWA is extending ground cables of 400 KV at a total length of 19.5 kilometres while dedicating 11.5 kilometres to the link between the Mushref and Al Mamzar in addition to 8 kilometers to the link between Al Nahda and Al Mamzar to enhance the efficiency of network of electricity transmission in Deira Area. This comes within DEWA's efforts aiming to provide necessary electric power to meet the growing needs of Dubai and to support the development projects for in various fields, " =he added – Emirates News Agency, WAM
