Sheikh Abdullah discusses important regional and world issues with Ban Ki-moon

New York - Sept 29, 2010 (WAM)- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, yesterday held a meeting with Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations here in New York. During the meeting, they discussed a number of political issues of common concern listed on the UN agenda particularly the Palestinian issue and developments related to Israeli-Palestinian direct negotiations, current financial condition of the Palestinian Authority and the situation in Gaza Strip in addition the role played by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Sheikh Abdullah and Ban Ki-moon also discussed other issues relating to latest situation in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and exchanged views on piracy problem in the Somali coasts.
On his part, Ban Ki-moon expressed his thanks to the United Arab Emirates for its generous support offered to programs and development activities affiliated to the UN, wishing more future success for the cooperation between UAE and the UN. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
