Sheikh Abdullah meets his Philippine counterpart

Manila - October 21, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in Manila yesterday, Philippine Foreign Secretary Alberto G. Romulo as part of his official visit to the country.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields; particularly trade, investment and renewable energy. They also exchanged views on the current developments in the regional and international arena.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed the UAE's keenness to strengthen relations with the Philippines, pushing them toward wider horizons in all fields to meet the aspirations of the two countries.
They also reviewed the growth in the bilateral trade and joint projects in tourism and agriculture, and explored the possibility of increasing the number of flights between the two countries in addition to encouraging investment and industrial projects.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation of the active role of the labour from the Philippines and their contribution in various development projects.
Romulo expressed the Philippine Government's appreciation for the attention, care and good treatment given by the government of UAE to Philippine workers and for the protection of their rights under laws and regulations enacted by the UAE. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
