Winners complete Dream Journey to UAE
Shanghai, Nov 1 2010 (WAM)- Sixteen winners of the Dream Journey Prize Draw at the UAE Pavilion in EXPO 2010 arrived at Shanghai's Pudong airport on an Emirates Airline flight from Dubai early this morning.
They were returning to China after a week's ‘Dream Journey' to the UAE. The Chinese coordinator of the prize draw, Junmin Li , accompanied the group of winners and conveyed their impressions soon after landing.
"The first thing that struck me was how comfortable and convenient it is to live in the UAE. After the huge numbers of people in China I could hardly believe the peaceful harmony of life in the Emirates", she said. "And all the people we did meet were welcoming and kind. The level of service was the highest that I have encountered anywhere", she commented.
"The people, especially Emiratis, really make the place. I also loved the multicultural aspect of the UAE. I felt like asking almost everyone I met, ‘Where are you from?' It is not something that occurs so much in China.
"The architecture is truly amazing and it was a thrill to go up the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa. The lifts are so comfortable and we did not feel pressure differences. The views from the observation floor are also amazing, right across the city and you can easily see the iconic developments of The Palm and, almost directly beneath us, Old Town Dubai.
"I loved the Aquarium in Dubai Mall but would have liked to know more about the technology involved in keeping so many big fish in a shopping mall.
"The best building of all, for me, was the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. It is so beautiful and we felt the grand scale of the building created its own peaceful space that everyone respected. It was inspirational and awe inspiring.
"But I must also mention Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, which is so palatial and magnificent. I kept getting lost in it! They were so nice to us and the staff at all the hotels where I stayed were brilliant.
"We were lucky to travel south to the Desert Island Resort on Sir Bani Yas Island. This is a wildlife reserve and we made an animal safari on vehicles as well as taking a bike ride across the island. At this time of year the weather is perfect and the hotel had laid on an immaculate itinerary that just blew us away! It was the experience of a lifetime! I wish I could have stayed there for a week or more.
"Our hosts, Jumeirah, Kempinski (Emirates Palace) and TDIC/Anantara (Desert Island Resort) provided impeccable hospitality and we really thought it was all a dream!" she told the reporters. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
