ZADCO to establish four artificial oil islands
Abu Dhabi, Nov 7, 2010 (WAM)- Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) aims to increase the production capacity of Upper Zakum field to 750,000 bpd by the end of 2015. To meet this goal ZADCO initiated the establishment of four artificial oil islands, the first of its kind in Asia and the Middle East, reported ADIPEC 2010 Daily Bulletin. National Marine Company won the ZADCO contract to construct the artificial islands surrounding its north Zakum field with the total value of Dh2.3 billion (about US$650 million). The project will be implemented within three years. After the completion of the development by the end of 2015, ZADCO production capacity is expected to represent about a quarter of the UAE's oil production. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
