RCA spent over Dh54 million in Palestine in first ten months of the year
Abu Dhabi, Nov 10, 2010 (WAM) - From January to October 2010, the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) carried out humanitarian operations in Palestine in the tune of Dh 54.3 million.
Ahmed Humaid Al Mazrouie, RCA Secretary General, said the UAE key relief agency is playing a major humanitarian and development role in the Palestinian scene to improve the living conditions of the suffering people there.
He explained that about Dh 12 million were spent on relief operations, Dh 18.6 million on construction and developmental projects, Dh 10.2 million on the health sector while seasonal programme took Dh 11.2 million and educational and social sponsorship programmes received Dh 2 million.
''The RCA has intensified its humanitarian programmes in the recent period in view of the health and economic challenges the Palestinian people are facing due to the siege, high unemployment rates among youths, rise in prices of foodstuff and deteriorating health services,'' he added.
According to him, the RCA's efforts aim at boosting capacities of the Palestinian people to overcome these challenges.
''We are determined to pursue our development programmes in order to deliver essential services through enhancement of partnerships in Palestine so as to realise our aspirations,'' he stressed. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
