Labour Ministry and World Bank agreement for regulating national labour market

Abu Dhabi, Dec 7, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Ministry of Labour and the World Bank signed on Monday an agreement, according to which the Bank will provide advice and contribute to the development of mechanisms regulating the labour market by way of enabling citizens to enter jobs suitable with their ambitions, as well as by building a labour market data system. The agreement was signed Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash and Faruq Iqbal, Regional Manager of the World Bank for GCC region. In a statement made on this occasion, Ghobash stressed ministry's keenness to cooperate with a prestigious organisation such as the World Bank and benefit from the expertise of the Bank. He alluded to the pursuit of the ministry to employ the latest global mechanisms governing the labour market that are compatible with the national interest with particular focus on Emiratisation. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
