International teams arrive in Sharjah for U.I.M. F1H2O World Championship

Sharjah, Dec 8, 2010 (WAM)- The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has announced that all preparations have been completed and everything is in place to receive international teams participating in the year's top powerboating event - the final round of the U.I.M. F1H2O World Championship 2010, Grand Prix of Sharjah.
International teams have already started arriving in the emirate ahead of one of the world's premier sporting competitions, which will take place at the Khalid Lagoon on 9 and10 December.
The Sharjah Grand Prix Organizing Committee, chaired by SCTDA Director General Mohamed A. Al Noman, has stressed the emirate's complete readiness to host the major sporting event, reaffirming Sharjah's leading position in organising global sporting events. The emirate has been awarded "Best Organiser" for the event on five previous occasions.
SCTDA held a press conference yesterday which was also attended by Al Noman, and F1 Powerboat promoter Niclo De San Germano, at the Corniche Al Buhaira Hotel to unveil all the details about the U.I.M. F1H2O World Championship 2010. The conference followed the arrival of international media delegations on Monday.
The SCTDA has arranged for the reception and accommodation of media delegations from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Russia and the Ukraine, as well as media teams representing Italian and Chinese sports TV channels. The Authority has organised a number of tours for these delegations as part of its strategy to educate them on Sharjah's tourist attractions, particularly those in its Eastern Region and Heritage Area, including the Sharjah's Museum of Islamic Civilization and the Sharjah Aquarium. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
