UAE's RCA and UNRWA discuss cooperation

Abu Dhabi, Dec 16, 2010 (WAM)- The UAE's Red Crescent Authority (RCA) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and consolidating efforts for the completion of construction projects being implemented through UAE support for the Palestinian people.
This came during the visit of the Representative of the Commissioner-General at the United Nations Relief Works Agency For Palestine Refugees in the Near East "UNRWA" Peter Ford to RCA's headquarters here in Abu Dhabi.
The two sides discussed developments on the humanitarian scene in the Palestinian territories and the completion stages of some projects within the Palestinian territories and Palestinian camps in a number of Arab countries.
During the meeting, they discussed a number of projects in the framework of cooperation between UAE's RCA and "UNRWA", which exceed the total value of AED 108 million.
The project of the building of Sheikh Khalifa City in Khan Younis in Gaza is among the most important projects currently being implemented with a total cost of over Dh47 million. It includes the construction of 600 house and a school with the infrastructure, including road works and extensions to the electricity network, water and sanitation. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
