Lubna Al Qasimi discusses trade cooperation with Syria

Dec 28, 2010 (WAM)- UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi and Syrian Prime Minister Mohamed Naji al-Otari discussed here yesterday, bilateral relations between UAE and Syria and proposals to develop bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
Sheikha Lubna is currently on a visit to Syria at the head of a delegation consisting of 45 members representing various industries.
She stressed the keenness of UAE in enhancing cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of trade and investment, noting that there exist abundant opportunities on both sides to develop relations in the best interests of the economies of both countries.
The Syrian Prime Minister thanked the delegation for the visit reflecting UAE's a special interest in Syria and asserted Syria's keenness in strengthening relations with the UAE in various avenues, especially in the fields of trade and investment.
He alluded to the development of industrial estates in Syria and the government's plan for boosting the production of electric energy using gas. He also noted the gas discoveries in Syria and the country's plans to establish a local and regional advanced network to carry gas among the countries of the region.
Sheikha Lubna later held a meeting with the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Dr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, Minister of Economy '&' Commerce Lamia Aasi and Minister of Finance Mohammed Al Hussain, and discussed bilateral relations between UAE and Syria. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
