Abu Dhabi, Jan 10, 2011 (WAM)- n-tv, Germany's largest news television station, yesterday broadcast a 17-minute special report about Masdar, the carbon neutral city currently being built outside Abu Dhabi City. The report addressed in detail the opportunities arising from the development of the world's first project of this kind.
Among the many interviewees for the report were Alan Frost, CEO of Masdar City, Dr. Fred Moavenzadeh, President of the Masdar Institute, Frank Wouters, Director of Masdar Power, and J rgen Haepp, one of the lead architects at Foster and Partners, in charge of the development of Masdar City. In addition, a number of Emirati, German and other Western students of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology were featured in the film, which was shot largely on the streets and squares of the emerging Masdar City project.
A number of international corporations, including Schlumberger, General Electric and Shell, are featured in the film. German technology giant Siemens also confirmed its commitment to Masdar City in the report by showing the future site of its Middle East headquarters.
"The major source of future energy in Arabia will no longer lie deep under its sand dunes, but shine bright above them from the sky", the report said, concluding: "Away from fossil fuels, and towards renewable energies, the visionary rulers of Abu Dhabi are a driving force for change." - Emirates News Agency, WAM
