Abdullah reiterates UAE's support for Afghanistan
Abu Dhabi, Jan 10, 2011 (WAM)- Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated yesterday the UAE's support for Afghan people and government and stressed the need for mobilising international efforts to back development programmes in Afghanistan.
Sheikh Abdullah made his remarks during an audience with Staffan di Mistura, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Afghanistan and Pakistan, who paid tribute to the UAE for its contributions to infrastructure projects in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullah received Belgian Ambassador to UAE Anick Van Calster. They reviewed relations between the UAE and GCC on one side and Belgium and the EU on the other.
Sheikh Abdullah commended Belgium's role at the European and international levels during its rotating presidency of the EU. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
