Dubai Municipality launches third Dubai map
Dubai, Jan 12, 2011 (WAM)- Dubai Municipality has launched Dubai Map 2010, the third map of Dubai. The map enumerates and gathers all the data of the Emirate of Dubai such as updated names and numbers of areas, names of roads, intersections, bridges, tunnels, and names of government bodies, development projects in the emirate with details of projects under development and that have been completed, in addition to the list of medical services such as hospitals and clinics, tourist services such as hotels, restaurants, commercial centres, recreational areas and parks, service companies and bank locations.
Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality said that the third edition of Dubai Map contains three products; the first is a Folded Guide Map measuring 118cm ‘84cm in full and 22cm ‘13cm after folding.
"This map comprises of two sides: The first is an illustrated map of the Emirate of Dubai and four detailed windows, the city centre area, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai Marina, and the city of Hatta. This map features a naming and numbering system, suitable for geographic navigation system to provide services to the customers coming to visit the emirate as they can move within the emirate and reach the most important landmarks, including tourist landmarks and areas, and the most important business, service, medical, and entertainment areas with ease," he said.
"The second side of the map contains the central area of the Emirate of Dubai, and a window for Dubai Metro line, as the map user can lay down his journey route inside the emirate and select areas that he wishes to visit, so as to see the largest possible number of landmarks in the emirate," said Lootah.
"The second product comes in the form of a wall map measuring 198cm ‘148cm, which includes the above as well as further details on one side," he said.
"The third product is a promotional map in the form of a folded pocket map measuring 60cm ‘45cm in full and 15cm ‘10cm after folding. This map is characterised by its small size and ease of reading to help travel to the most important and beautiful areas in the emirate. It is worth mentioning that the maps will be updated every six months in line with the changes in the Emirate of Dubai," said Lootah. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
