UAE, Syria sign customs cooperation agreement

Abu Dhabi, Jan 17, 2011 (WAM)- The UAE represented by the Federal Customs Authority (FCA) has signed initially the final copy of the technical and administrative customs agreement with Syria represented by the General Department of Customs.
The agreement was signed at the sidelines of the fifth meeting of joint UAE-Syrian Committee held in the Syrian Capital, Damascus, last week. The final agreement will be signed when ratified in both countries.
Saeed Salem Al Aqroubi, director of the international relations at the (FCA), signed on behalf of the UAE, while Fadi Samadi, director of the international relations at the Syrian General Department of Customs, signed on behalf of Syria.
Aqroubi said the trade between the two countries grew over the last five years, touching Dh6.9 billion from 2005- 2010, of which Dh2.5 billion were imports. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
