OPEC50 UAE Energy Forum has highlighted positive contributions of OPEC, UAE's OPEC Governor
Abu Dhabi, Feb 15, 2011 (WAM) - Ali Obaid Al Yabhouni, UAE Governor for OPEC, said on Monday that "OPEC50 UAE Energy Forum" has highlighted the positive contributions OPEC made to the oil market over the last 50 years.
He said this in his concluding remarks at the end of OPEC50 UAE Energy Forum held at the Health Sciences Auditorium, CERT Technology Park Abu Dhabi and attended besides other by Mohamed Bin Dhaen Al Hameli, UAE Energy Minister, Dr. Ramzi Salman, advisor to Qatar Minister of Energy, Emad Bu- Hulaigah, GM Petroleum Development, Dragon Oil Holding.
The experts in the field of oil and gas, companies CEOs and intellectuals from around the world gave their in-depth analyses on the role of OPEC and future strategies to stabiles oil market.
"The events in Egypt over the past few weeks and subsequent price hike of crude oil to US$100 per barrel reminds us of the volatile nature of the market. We never know when the next shock is coming or geo-political event from any other corner of the world, .... in this situation the oil continues to flow and this is very important", Yabhouni added.
"OPEC responsibility is to produce oil and gas, they do their best to keep supply for their customers and they will continue to do so".
He reminded that OPEC does not set prices, rather they are determined by International market forces.
On Environment, UAE Governor for OPEC said: "Environment is very important to all producers, OPEC Secretary General Abdalla Salem El-Badri and ministers give due importance to this and this issue is equally important for us, UAE is doing a lot .... ADNOC and its group of companies since 1975, have been following a very strong policy to keep environment clean as possible".
He urged other developed countries to help UAE in its efforts to make the environment clean for future generations. "We are a small country, but contributing significantly towards this direction". - Emirates News Agency, WAM
