UAE delivers medical assistance to Bengerdan hospital at Tunisian-Libyan borders
Tunis - March 13, 2011 (WAM) - The Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has donated medical equipment and supplies, including a surgical sterilisation device, intensive care unit (ICU) beds and an ambulance, to the Bengerdan hospital, 40 kilometres from the Tunisian borders with Libya.
The medical assistance were delivered during a field tour by the UAE Ambassador to Tunisia, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Suwaidi, of the hospital, where he met with its Director Salim Isa and Al Munsef Abdul Kabeer, Chairman of Bengerdan Municipality.
The Tunisian health and municipal officials lauded the UAE as the first Arab country to deliver tremendous relief support at the Libyan - Tunisian borders.
For second time, the envoy inspected the Emirati camp at Ras Judair border post between Libya and Tunisia. During his second visit to the camp, the envoy was briefed on preparations for receiving displaced persons and providing them with shelters, food, and healthcare services. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
