UAE's charity continues emergency relief operation on Libyan-Egyptian borders

Dubai, Mar 13, 2011 (WAM) - The UAE's Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian '&' Charity Establishment continued the distribution of relief medical and food material to over 35000 refugees stranded on the Libyan-Egyptian borders following bloody clashes in Libya.
A delegation led by Advisor Ibrahim Bumalha and Saleh Zaher, Director of the Establishment are on the Libyan-Egyptian borders to supervise the emergency operation which aims to facilitate the repatriation of displaced people as part of international humanitarian efforts.
In the Establishment's first stage of the operation, 330 tons of basic food stuff were distributed to the refugees of different nationalities.
In the second stage, the Establishment urgently procured foodstuff from the Egyptian markets, according to Bumalha. The Establishment distributed 35000 food packages as well as bottled water to thousands of African and Asian refugees on the Al-Salloum, on the Egyptian-Libyan borders, over 7 days. It also delivered 8 ambulance vehicles to hospitals in Benghazi, Ajdabiya and to Tunisian Red Crescent. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
