Abu Dhabi Ports Company and Virginia Port Authority sign transatlantic partnership
Abu Dhabi, March 29, 2011 (WAM) - Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) announced yesterday a knowledge sharing partnership agreement with the Virginia Port Authority, USA.
Tawfeeq Yousof Al Mubarak, Executive Vice President of Ports, ADPC, and Russell Held, Deputy Executive Director - Development, VPA signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the World Ports and Trade Summit (WPTS) being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) this week by. Held is also speaking at a seminar entitled "Cargo handling and terminal operations" during WPTS this week.
The two-year agreement will see both companies co-operating on marketing activities, market research, exchange of information, green issues, modernisation details and cross training. Working parties from both companies will also visit each other's sites periodically to solidify the partnership.
Tawfeeq Al Mubarak commented, "This is a great step forward for Abu Dhabi and the Middle East, and we look forward to sharing knowledge and extending our friendship and professional relationship with one of the most important ports on the American East Coast." Russell Held, stated:
"Working closely with ADPC in the near future will prove to be a very mutually beneficial relationship that is rare in the region. We have already begun to share information and are eager in both welcoming ADPC staff and in sending our own people to learn more about the plans behind the commercial port operations in the emirate, including the Khalifa Port which is situated within the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi, (Kizad).- Emirates News Agency, WAM
