Statement by HH the Emir to Al-Jazeera Chanel

Doha, March 30 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has underlined that foreign intervention in Libya came as a result of the bombing of the Libyan people after they went out in peaceful marches.
In a statement to Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel, aired tonight, HH the Emir said the Libyan people solely decide their fate , adding "we should ask ourselves why foreign intervention took place? It happened because the people there went out in a peaceful march then they were subjected to bombing and therefore the international community intervention became a necessity, especially after the delay by the Arab League. However, HH the Emir pointed out that the Arab League, in the light of changes currently under way in the Arab world, will be capable to play the role now played by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
HH the Emir of Qatar reiterated that the Libyan issue is a humanitarian one centered on the protection of civilians there " and there is nothing else', noting that the Libyan people themselves will decide their fate in the future.
