UAE Foreign Minister opens new building of the UAE embassy in Lisbon

Abu Dhabi, April 3, 2011 (WAM) - UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated on Friday, the new premises of the UAE embassy in Portugal, in the presence of Portuguese Foreign Minister Dr. Luis Amado and Minister of Economy, Innovation and Development Vieira da Silva.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed and Luis Amado unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the opening of the new embassy building. Then they toured the new building and Sheikh Abdullah expressed admiration over the architectural design of the facility and specially commended the replica of the sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque that adorns the entrance of the embassy.
Sheikh Abdullah then held a meeting with the Portuguese ministers and ambassadors of other Arab countries.
He underlined the growing bilateral relations between UAE and Portugal. UAE Ambassador to Portugal Saqr Nasser Al Reesi presented Sheikh Abdullah and Dr. Luis Amado with mementoes to mark the occasion.
The Ambassador said that that the new five-story building combines the architectural styles of 19th-century classical Europe and the modern era and overlooks the Lisbon city and the Tagus river.
The ceremony was attended by Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Salem Al Kaabi, Director of Projects and Buildings at the Ministry and other officials. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
