CoS inspects UAE forces taking part in enforcing no-fly-zone over Libya
April 4, 2011 (WAM) - Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, yesterday made an inspection visit of the UAE force in Italy which is taking part in the international patrols enforcing the no-fly-zone over Libya under the UN Security Council resolution 1973.
He was received by the Commander of the UAE Force, pilots and technicians.
Al Rumaithi conveyed to the officers, NCOs and personnel greetings of the UAE leadership. He expressed appreciation to the role played by the force in protecting the brotherly Libyan people.
UAE's participation in enforcing the no-fly-zone over Libya comes as an extension of the continuous humanitarian operations in support of the Libyan people.
Emanating from its keenness to contribute to the efforts of protecting civilians in brotherly Libya, the UAE has committed six F-16 and six Mirage aircraft to participate in the patrols that enforce the no-fly zone over Libya. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
