Work in progress to complete Khalifa bin Zayed Mosque in Jerusalem

Jerusalem - April 12, 2011 (WAM) - The construction work at the "Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan mosque " is in progress in Al Azizia town one of the eastern suburbs of the city of Jerusalem, the mosque which is funded and supervised by the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation.
The Nine-Dome Mosque, which is the largest mosque in Palestine after the Al-Aqsa mosque covers about six thousand square meters and is located on a high hill overseeing a wide area from the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director General of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation said that reports confirmed the project will be completed soon and is expected to be opened in the next Ramadan.
He also explained that the mosque which can accommodate up to six thousand worshippers, consists of six floors, first for men while the second for women in addition to a public library and health centre and other services facilities. The mosque has two Minarets. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
