UAE, Sweden discuss investment cooperation

Abu Dhabi, April 12, 2011 (WAM) - Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi discussed with Marcus Wallenberg, a prominent Swedish industrialist currently visiting the country, ways for strengthening trade and investment relations between UAE and Sweden.
At a meeting held in Abu Dhabi, they also reviewed UAE - Swedish economic cooperation and its steady growth. The minister pointed out that the UAE economy has rapidly developed over the years, and that it now enjoys a high degree of diversity that is best reflected in the fact that its non-oil sectors have contributed over 71% of the GDP in 2009.
Wallenberg, who is currently the Chairman of Skandinaviska Enskilda Bank, the Chairman of Saab and Electrolux, and the Deputy Chairman of Ericsson, explored the avenues of further increasing the activities of these companies in the UAE.
Sheikha Lubna invited Swedish corporations to benefit from the UAE's development plans and the competitive investment climate as well as the opportunities the country offers.
Wallenberg said that Sweden is greatly interested in boosting commercial and investment cooperation with the UAE. Abdullah Ahmad Al Saleh, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Magnus Csholdtz, the Swedish Ambassador were in attendance. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
