Al Qasba celebrates 6th anniversary of Etisalat Eye of the Emirates

Sharjah, April 13, 2011 (WAM) - Al Qasba, Sharjah's premier tourist, leisure and cultural destination, will celebrate the 6th anniversary of the Etisalat Eye of the Emirates from 7pm to 11pm on Thursday, 14 April. The landmark attraction's anniversary celebrations will take place under the theme "Smile and Be Part of It", and a range of fun-filled events and activities have been planned to mark the special occasion.
The Etisalat Eye of the Emirates was launched in 2005, and stands out as one of the most prominent landmarks in the emirate of Sharjah. The 60-metre high wheel gives visitors a chance to view Sharjah, as well as parts of Dubai and Ajman, from its 42 air-conditioned cabins.
A specially designed programme of exciting and entertaining events to mark this milestone has been planned to ensure an unforgettable night. The programme will feature various shows, including happy clown shows, acrobatic performances and appearances by Al Qasba's most loved cartoon characters.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a special performance by the lovable Freej cartoon characters from 8:30pm to 10:30pm, followed by a spectacular fireworks display that will light up Al Qasba sky. A series of other fun-filled and entertaining events are also planned for all members of the family.
The Organising Committee promises that audiences will be amazed by Al Qasba's dazzling and special decorations as part of the rich ceremony, and in addition to ensuring that visitors are able to ride the tallest Ferris wheel in region, they will also be distributing special gifts to mark the occasion.
Commenting on the occasion, Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Al Qasba Development Authority, said: "Al Qasba is one of the UAE's most prominent landmarks and stands out as a tourist, cultural, and entertainment destination. Spreading across 100 square kilometres, Al Qasba is expected to attract a great deal of investment to the emirate thanks to its uniquely designed facilities, rich cultural diversity and Arab Islamic identity." Abdul Aziz Hamad Taryam, General Manager of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Qaiwain and Ras Al Khaimah, Etisalat, said : "We are not only very proud of our strategic partnership with Al Qasba, but also of the fact that our branding is displayed on the tallest Ferris wheel in the region."
