505 million gallon of water in 16 dams and embankments
Abu Dhabi, April 13, 2011 (WAM) - The Ministry of Environment and Water announced that about 2, 205, 000 cubic metre of water, equivalent to 505 million gallons of water have been reported in the embankments and dams, following the rains over the last two days across the UAE.
Earlier light- heavy rains lashed the country, causing water to run in different valleys across the country.
According to the reports issued by the ministry 11 dams and embankments were filled with water in Eastern Region, as well as five dams in Northern Region. It is expected that water in the embankments and dams would enhance quality and percentage of ground water, a thing that would have positive impact on the agriculture. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
