Supernatural thriller 'The Caller' by Emirati producer to be screened tomorrow

The fourth Gulf Film Festival, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture '&' Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), will screen the supernatural thriller, The Caller, by prominent Emirati producer Amina Dasmal and Robin Fox, tomorrow at Dubai Festival City.
Directed by Matthew Parkhill, The Caller is a thrilling psychodrama, starring Rachelle Lefevre and Stephen Moyer. The film, screening under the Lights segment of the festival, was shot in Puerto Rico, and narrates the story of a divorced woman who receives sinister phone calls from the past. She tries to break off contact but the caller is looking for revenge in a terrifying way. It will be screened again on April 17 (Sunday), 6.30 pm at Grand Cinema 8.
Recognised by Forbes as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Business Women in the Middle East in 2009, and named ‘100 Most Powerful Women of 2011' by Arabian Business magazine, Dasmal tries to bridge the gap in filmmaking between the West and the Arab world through her film ventures.
The Caller makes its Middle East premiere at GFF 2011, and has been picked up by Sony Pictures for distribution after its premiere at the 2011 Berlinale Film Market.
GFF 2011 is screening 153 films from 31 nations until April 20. The festival is being held at the InterContinental Hotel, Crowne Plaza and Grand Cinemas at Dubai Festival City. It is supported by Dubai Culture '&' Arts Authority and is held in association with Dubai Studio City. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
