Federal Cabinet approves unified holiday calendar for schools and universities
Abu Dhabi, April 18, 2011 (WAM) - The federal cabinet passed yesterday a resolution for unifying holidays in general education schools and higher education institutions. The unified holiday calendar is expected to have a positive impact on community, individuals and families in the country. The resolution also defines the duration of holidays between semesters to three weeks after the first term, and two weeks after the second term.
Presided over by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the cabinet meeting discussed a host of national issues on its agenda and approved budgets of the Emirates Investment Authority (EIA) and Zakat Fund for the fiscal year 2011. It gave its nod for a number of agreements the UAE has signed with friendly countries on avoidance of double taxation and tax evasion on income tax.
The meeting also set up the national day celebrations committee under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, and membership of several federal and local entities. The cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between the GCC and Australia on the strategic dialogue and the conclusion of an agreement between the UAE and Albania on air transport. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
