Abu Dhabi, April 26, 2011 (WAM) - The rights body in the country has lauded the efforts being taken by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking (NCCHT) to eradicate all forms of human trafficking crimes.
The UAE Human Rights Association has welcomed the release of the fourth annual report 2010-2011 on anti human trafficking in the UAE by the NCCHT.
Mohammed Hussein Al Hammadi, Secretary General of the association said in a statement that the UAE pledged over the last five years to stem the intruding crime in the country, indicating that the country has proven ability to eradicate the crime through detection and seizure of suspects year after year. He cited the efforts taken by the State to educate the public about the risks posed by the crime on the UAE community. He added that laws were enacted, symposiums were held, media campaigns were launched, hotline was set up, sheltering centres were set up and others to tackle the crime.
Al Hammadi underlined that the human trafficking issue has become an international issue, indicating that the UAE right body has set up the anti-human trafficking committee, which receives cases of human trafficking, and communicates with competent authorities, takes care about victims and rehabilitates them, and educates public about the dangers of crime. He called on the civil society to cooperate with competent authorities in the UAE to curb such crimes. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
