RCA braces to roll out massive volunteer drive

Abu Dhabi, April 27, 2011 (WAM) - The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) is gearing up to roll out a massive nation-wide volunteer campaign where national volunteers can leash their field expertise and experiments in support of public efforts in all domains, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Deputy RCA Secretary General for Local Affairs, said the programme, part of the annual volunteer plan, seeks to fosters the culture of voluntary works and its impact on humanitarian and social fields.
''The RCA is currently training a group of volunteer so as to join a national response team handle emergency situations locally and support foreign relief operations," he added The RCA has launched a one-year training programme to build capacities of local social workers under the supervision of a number of local and international agencies including the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Out of the UAE, The RCA volunteers engaged in a large health programme to vaccinate two million Pakistani children. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
