UAE, Bahrain ink Security Cooperation Agreement

Abu Dhabi, May 4, 2011 (WAM) - The UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain signed yesterday the Security Cooperation and Coordination Agreement at the sidelines of the 12th Consultative Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Interior Ministers.
The deal was signed by H. H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Bahraini Interior Minister Staff Lt. General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The agreement aims at boosting the cooperation relations between the two countries in all fields, especially in the areas of security and crime and exchange of information in different security fields.
It calls for exchanging expertise and visits between the two parties as per requirements of the ministries of Interior in both countries, especially in the areas of forensic evidence, civil defence, planning and organisation, naturalisation, residency, traffic, police education and training, infrastructure security and other fields.
The agreement also calls for boosting cooperation in the areas of crime combat, especially in the fields of drugs, corruption, organised crime, human trafficking, cyber crime, economic crime, money laundering, intellectual property, theft and smuggle of antiques, vehicle smuggle and other crimes. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
