Hanif Hassan heads UAE delegation to WHO General Assembly meeting

Abu Dhabi, May 16, 2011 (WAM) - UAE Health Minister Dr Hanif Hassan is heading the UAE delegation to the World Health Organisation's (WHO) 64th General Assembly Meeting in Geneva, which will begin on Monday 16th and run till Tuesday 17th May 2011.
The delegation includes: Zaid Al Suksuk, Director General of Abu Dhabi Health Authority, Dr. Mahmoud Fikri, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Policies, Nasser Al Budoor, Assistant Undersecretary for External Relations and International Health, Dr. Tayeba Al Sherif, Technical Director of Al Fujairah Hospital, Dr. Manal Taryam, CEO of Noor Dubai Establishment, Dr. Badria Khamis, Acting Head of Quality Assurance Department, Dubai Medical District, and Dr. Aisha Al Dhaheri, Abu Dhabi Health Authority.
Dr. Fikri said: "The meeting will discuss a number of health issues related to prevention of diseases and international health strategies. The UAE's delegation will participate in important three meetings on the sidelines of the 64th WHO General Assembly meeting such as the Arab Health Ministers Meeting to discuss issues of common interest regarding the health future in the Arab world".
The GCC Health Ministers Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday 17th May to coordinate efforts and implement the topics of the agenda. The Middle Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office will also meet to nominate names of the members of the WHO General Assembly and candidates to join the WHO executive council.
The UAE will review its efforts in the field of disease prevention such as AIDS according to the report that has been submitted to the United Nations in 2010 about living with AIDS patients. The meeting will also review non-communicable diseases and the establishment of an epidemiological surveillance and health risks system. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
