UAE cements ties with NATO

Abu Dhabi, May6 23, 2011 (WAM) - It is unquestionable that the UAE's move to become the first Arab country to send an ambassador to NATO is an important step and a key development for the country as it is reflective of the role it has taken on as a developing nation, commented Gulf News. "We're very happy that the UAE is to become the first Arab country to open an embassy at NATO", said Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslow Sikorski. By having such an ambassador, the UAE is cementing its ties with the trans-Atlantic alliance.
"It is important to have an Arab voice at these essential gatherings as it gives a window to voice the Arab perspective on various issues that are of importance to the region", the paper said in its yesterday's editorial. The UAE has of late been very actively involved at the international stage which is welcome as the country has been playing an important role especially when it comes to promoting the Arab cause, it concluded. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
