UAE is among the vanguard of aid providers to Libyan people

Tunis - June 9, 2011 (WAM) - The UAE leadership, government and people will spare no efforts to deliver financial and moral support for persons displaced by events in Libya and provide them with shelter and food in implementation of instructions by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Abdul Rahman Ibrahim bin Abdul Aziz, Commander of the UAE Joint Relief Force in Tunisia, said that more than 100 tonnes of food and medical supplies had crossed into the south western part of Tunisia and the UAE aid workers ''are delivering these assistance to beneficiaries''.
He said that a UAE medical team and three fully equipped ambulances had arrived the Western Mountain through the Dhahabia border crossing point. ''The UAE is the only aid provider in the world that has reached these regions and distributed relief items to Libyan people there, winning respect and appreciation from all,'' he noted.
He emphasised that the UAE aid workers are distributing humanitarian assistance to all displaced persons without distinction to their nationalities, prompting international agencies to ask the UAE run the Italian camp in Ras Jdir.
''The UAE is making transparent and credible contacts with brothers and friends across the world in good times and bad times so as to put instructions of the UAE leaders into action,'' he said. The UAE joint Relief Force is made up of the UAE leading aid providers : the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation, the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment and the UAE Red Crescent Authority. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
