Germany explores cooperation in Media with National Media Council
Abu Dhabi, June 14, 2011 (WAM) - The National Media Council (NMC) yesterday discussed ways to boost media cooperation with Germany.
A high-level German delegation led by Dr. Johannes Beerman, State Minister of Saxony visited NMC headquarters here in Abu Dhabi.
The delegation included Susanne Muller (ZDF Enterprises, Head of co-productions and program development, Wolf-Dieter Jacobi, COO of MDR and head of sports section of the Public Channel, Leonhard Krause, Main office of MDR-headquarter, Grit WiBkirchen, CEO of Balance Film GmbH, Hermann Joha, Founder and CEO of action concept, Dr. Matthias Heinze, Head of Press Department in the State Chancellery of Saxony, Peggy Liebscher, personal assistant of Dr. Beermann, Mathias von Polenz, Speaker of the German Embassy Abu Dhabi and Susanne Jokisch, Cultural Attach German Embassy.
The German delegation was briefed on NMC role under the chairmanship of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works in organising the media sector and work mechanism in addition to coordination with the government and private Media in the state and media training with the aim of raising the efficiency of UAE's working in various media entities along with improving performance and relations with the media around the world.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation between the National Media Council and media departments in the state of Saxony and ways to take advantage of the German experience on the organisation of radio and television broadcasting and electronic media in addition to the development of cooperation in the field of training and exchange of experiences between NMC and the media in the state of Saxony.
Dr. Johannes highlighted the importance of continuing the cooperation between the two sides. For his part, Director General National Media Council (NMC), Mr. Ibrahim Al Abed said that the Council continues to play its role in the development of media institutions in accordance with international standards and keeps pace with global developments in this field, stressing the keenness of Sheikh Hamdan to develop the media sector in the state. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
