IPIC's refinery in Fujairah significant, says OAPEC

Abu Dhabi, June 20, 2011 (WAM)- - The Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) has termed the Fujairah oil refinery project as "significant and vital" as the refinery is planned to have a capacity to process up to 200,000 barrels per day (bpd).
OAPEC, in its June bulletin, noted that the US$ 3 billion refinery, to be built by Abu Dhabi's government-owned International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), is one of Abu Dhabi's strategic initiatives.
IPIC's project will be integrated with, and source crude from the onshore Habshan field in Abu Dhabi through the 370 km and 1.5 bpd Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline (ADCOP), reduce the reliance on oil terminals and avoid shipping through the strait of Hormuz and to use Fujairah deepwater export terminals. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
