U.S Defense Ministry official representative: Azerbaijan has all opportunities to develop mechanisms to combat terrorism

(Trend) - Azerbaijan has all the opportunities to develop mechanisms to combat terrorism, deputy director of U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency Ronnie Faircloth said.
"I am proud that I am with our Azerbaijani partners to demonstrate our joint efforts to prevent proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the region and worldwide," he said in Baku.
Azerbaijan is a permanent partner of the United States. The United States look forward to the future cooperation, he added.
On Wednesday Baku hosted the event to commemorate the completion of a joint program of the U.S. Defense Ministry and the Azerbaijani State Border Service to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction.
The program is aimed at uniting the efforts of Azerbaijan and the United States for supervision, early detection and prevention of smuggling of nuclear and radiological materials in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
The U.S. assists in conducting technical expertise and organizing training within this unique program, while the Azerbaijani side, in practice, takes all necessary measures in the Caspian Sea.
The program has been implemented in Azerbaijan since 2004. The representatives of the U.S. Defense Ministry arrived in Azerbaijan to completely deliver this program to the Azerbaijani State Border Service.
"Azerbaijan has all the opportunities to develop mechanisms to combat this kind of terrorism," he said.
