ENOC dismisses reports on retail outlets takeover

Dubai, July 6, 2011 (WAM) - Dubai's state-owned fuel retailer Emirates National Oil Co., or Enoc, said Tuesday it had not received any offers from companies interested in taking over some of its retail outlets shut amid an ongoing fuel shortage. "There has been no expression of interest by any organisation on taking over the operations of the company's retail outlets," Enoc said in an emailed statement
"ENOC categorically denies the report that appeared yesterday in Gulf News about the future course of running the ENOC and EPPCO retail outlets in the northern emirates," an ENOC spokesperson said ENOC said it is extremely disappointing that the newspaper has deemed it fit to publish a report which is totally baseless, speculative and unverified."
"ENOC reiterates that there has been no expression of interest by any organisation on taking over the operations of the company's retail outlets...The concerned authorities are actively discussing the matter of fuel distribution in the northern emirates....Such rumours serve no positive purpose, and the newspaper owes an apology for spreading misinformation," the company's spokesperson added. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
