UAE President emphasises strength of UAE-Kuwait relations
Abu Dhabi, July 7, 2011 (WAM) - President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan lauded the fraternal ties between the UAE and Kuwait as ‘deep', and bilateral cooperation as ‘constructive' under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Sheikh Khalifa emphasised the strength of UAE-Kuwait relations, as he received on Wednesday at Al Rawda Palace Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al Mohammad Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
"We are always eager to meet with our Kuwaiti brethren and to elevate the scale of joint cooperation to match that of the UAE-Kuwait brotherly bonds, which better serves mutual interests and enhances GCC joint action," said Sheikh Khalifa.
Sheikh Khalifa said the visit would produce important results that would further strengthen fraternal ties between the two countries. For his part, the Kuwaiti premier said he was delighted to visit the UAE and meet Sheikh Khalifa.
He also extended to Sheikh Khalifa the greetings of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, and his wishes for Sheikh Khalifa's good health, and progress for the UAE people.
"Kuwait harbours high esteem and respect for the UAE leadership, government and people for their honourable stances with Kuwaiti people, and for the UAE's leading role in promoting and establishing the principles of the GCC," Sheikh Nasser said.
Sheikh Khalifa and Sheikh Nasser discussed bilateral ties and reviewed latest developments at the Gulf, Arab and international field.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a number of Sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.
