Uzbek Senate announces about convening next plenary meeting (UPDATE)

The next, the sixth plenary meeting of the Senate of Oliy Majlis (Upper House of Uzbek Parliament) will be held in Tashkent on Aug. 26 - 27, the Uzbek parliament reported with reference to the decision of Kengash (Council) of the Senate.
The agenda of the Senate’s plenary meeting is reviewing a number of laws aimed at reforming and liberalization of all spheres of political, social and economic life, democratic renewal and formation of civil society in the country, the parliament said.
In particular, the Senate meeting is planned to consider amendments to the laws "On Bankruptcy" and "On licensing of certain activities," "On Railway Transport", "On limiting distribution and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products" that envisage support and development of business activity, ensuring safety of railway transportation and protection of public health.
Law "On detention during criminal proceedings", submitted to the Senate for consideration, will be essential in reforming the judicial and legal sphere, ensuring law and order.
Senators will also consider a number of international agreements reached by Uzbek leadership for their ratification.
Along with this the Senate’s next meeting will consider and discuss a report of the Central Bank’s board chairman on the organization’s activity in 2010.
