Turkmenistan develops socio-economic development program for 2012-2016

A draft on "Turkmenistan’s social and economic development program for 2012-2016" will be submitted to the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers by Dec.1, 2011, an official Turkmen source said on Saturday.
The corresponding decree was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov.
The program aims at further ensuring high rates of Turkmenistan's development, promoting investment activity, creating new jobs, improving social security and further improvement of the population’s social conditions, as well as the development of specific sectoral programs.
Turkmenistan occupies a key position in the region for its natural gas supplies - importers are Russia, China and Iran.
At the same time, the country’s government heads for economy diversification -oil and gas processing, textile industry and tourism spheres are developing in recent years.
In accordance with Turkmenistan’s Oil and Gas Industry Development Program, the annual natural gas production is planned to reach 230 billion cubic meters in 2030, most of it is envisaged for export.
